Leadville has a number of streets. In the 30s, these were dirt with a crown in the middle and ditches on either side. As the railroad alignment is perpendicular to the slope, there are also a variety of culverts at each crossing. I have been pondering how to model the road and crown. I was thinking about making a former in styrene and scraping plaster or sculpt a mold, but thought some thin slices of foam and matte medium would be easier. Here is the first street--either 11th or 12th.
I am still wondering about the signaling rules: there are 5 crossings on the D&RG and 4 on the C&S. That makes for a tired left arm, pulling on the whistle cord.
Keith: i hope tosee more of this project. My wife and I visited Leadville many years ago when our kids were small. I wanted to take pictures of the RR stuff there but the other half wanted to get out little daughter bedded down. She's now 32 please post some more. Btw how's the highline?
